Natural ecological conservation

At present, the rapid development of the economy and excessive exploitation of land and forests can cause damage to the natural habitats of animals and plants, threaten the survival of wildlife, plants, and insects, and lead to the disappearance of biodiversity.

The harm caused by the disappearance of biodiversity:

     • •Affects future food sources and industrial and agricultural resources.

     • •  Soil fertility and water quality are damaged.

     • •  It affects the ecological balance of nature.

The importance of nature conservation:

Species diversity is composed of various ecosystems, each composed of the environment, animals, plants, microorganisms, and others. All types of plants, animals, and microorganisms play important roles in energy conversion and material circulation on Earth, contributing their indispensable power in maintaining ecosystem balance. China is one of the 12 countries with the richest species diversity, including 34984 species of higher plants, ranking third in the world; 6445 species of vertebrates, accounting for 13.7% of the world; There are about 10000 species of fungi, accounting for 14% of the world. However, at the same time, the degree of threat to species diversity in our country cannot be ignored.

According to the latest published Red Book of Chinese Species, the proportion of endangered species in China that meet the World Union for Conservation of Nature's criteria is 34.74% for invertebrates, 35.92% for vertebrates, 69.91% for gymnosperms, and 86.63% for angiosperms, greatly exceeding the early estimate of 2% to 30%. At present, many ecosystems in China are undergoing continuous degradation and their functions are also constantly being lost; Many populations are experiencing a sharp decline in numbers, and species are in endangered status, with some already below the minimum number of surviving populations.

Biodiversity is the foundation on which human society relies for survival and development. Many aspects of our clothing, food, housing, transportation, and material and cultural life are closely related to the maintenance of biodiversity. Therefore, protecting species diversity is protecting ourselves. If biodiversity is damaged, it will inevitably have a great impact and danger on humans, society, and nature.

The significance of protecting species diversity:

 1. Various species provide humans with abundant food, fiber, and energy, as well as a complete range of medicinal herbs and abundant industrial raw materials.

 2. Diversified organisms are also important resources for tourism and entertainment.

 3. Biodiversity is the air purifier of this world, as trees and other green plants inhale carbon dioxide and reduce it to pure oxygen.

 4. Biodiversity purifies water sources for humans, and forests, soil, bacteria, streams, and clouds work together to purify water quality.

 5. Biodiversity plays a crucial role in regulating climate and resisting disasters for humans, and forests play a crucial role in mitigating climate change and preventing flood disasters.
